Harrison Oak built a custom set of emoji for popular Indian travel Youtuber Karl Rock. These icons were built for very small sizes, as they would display in the comments and chat sections of Youtube.
Memes from his channel’s content and Indian national symbols (like Masala Chai) were used as themes for each emoji.
Karl Rock is a Youtuber with over half a million subscibers based in India. He helps travelers and Indian citizens to better understand Indian culture, and creates educational, entertaining content focusing on travel safety and protecting his viewers from scammers.
Karl is also the author of the India Survival Guide, a traveller’s guide to safety in India.

CUSTOM EMOJIS & BADGES
Harrison Oak and Karl Rock collaborated to design a series of 12 custom emojis and badges to represent the Rock Army.
The advertising campaign for the product launch had a reach of over 75,000+ people in the first day.
The launch of the Rock Army was planned to target Karl’s 500,000+ subscribers across a variety of platforms he uses to communicate with his audience, including YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook. The launch campaign included a series of social media announcement posts, as well as a video filmed and edited by Karl informing the fans of the benefits of joining the Rock Army.
Working closely with Karl to design icons that would resonate with his fanbase of Indians and foreigners, Harrison Oak designed a series of 6 custom emojis. Members of the Rock Army can use the emojis in the YouTube chat during livestreams, and are a way of showing support for the Karl Rock YouTube channel.
Designed as a warning emoji for scammers. Karl Rock is known for alerting his viewers to Indian scammers.
“Nahi” meaning No in Hindi, Nahi Chahiye means “I don’t want”. This is what travelers in India will need to learn to say to touts and scammers alike.
Ram Ram is a popular Hindi greeting, in reference to the Hindu gods. The emoji is written in the Devanagari script.
Masala Chai is the quintessential Indian drink that you can find in every home across the country. Made of black tea, milk, and sugar, chai is the iconic and ancient beverage of India.
Jai Hind means “Long Live India” and is a symbol of Indian national pride.
Kutta-ji is a friendly black dog that appeared in one of Karl Rock’s YouTube videos, and has become a recurrent symbol among his fans.
